ABOUT
I started painting at the Museo Delso in December 2017. In 2018, I received an invitation from the Federation Frax in Albir, Alicante, Spain, about being the first debutant with a major solo exhibition in the rooms of Don Pedro Delso in 2019. This gave me strength and inspiration to work further with the discipline a blood-fresh painter is committed to in his work. There is no easy way or shortcuts to the soul!
The journey inwards is challenging and I needed the time. During the journey 2019 in Northern Norway and in Western Norway, Farsund and Risor, new friends and necessary support came up to me. The joy of color and the life that got to dance.
In Corona times in isolation in Spain, I felt the pain that finally opened new rooms and horizons. New strength in missing my loved ones but without anxiety. I wrote some poems, painted intuitively, and found back to silence. In my 3 years here in Spain, I have researched and trained with acrylic and ink. Good friends have given me good opportunities and support. 3 Exhibitions in Norway; also in New York, Spain, Luxembourg, Italy, and Germany - some international awards have given me new opportunities and are of course inspiring. Life here in Spain gives me peace and meaningful work. I am no longer banned. The art of painting has given me a new life.
With the pain in the cry of time, I have taken off my mask and make-up. Art has shown me the way forward. Give me faith. With my paintings and prints, I hope to give you the inspiration in light and the purity of the days without pain, lack of hope. My life now is inspiration and joy. Nature is my cathedral. The sun is my source and the universe my adventure.
Thank you for stopping by. Can't wait for painting weeks again in Norway. Northern Norway is in my heart forever. And the source of my power is your hands that hold on to what life gives us: Friendship, Light, and Nature. And in every moment pure love.
Testimonials from art critics
"Jarl Goli's work must be read through the thousand hidden meanings. Therefore works, which must be investigated in order to find the keystone that opens the lost casket. The artist from the darkness of darkness brings out a saving light. that light, which has the task of restoring order to the chaos of the contemporary world. Jarl goes beyond the hyperrealism of form, to focus his visual investigation on the content, relating to feelings and emotions. that the subjects represented want to convey to the observer. Through the right balance between form and figure, the artist traces the foundation of his figurative path. A path that sees him converse with his most intimate thoughts, and then bring them back to canvas."
Dott. Salvatore Russo. Art Critic and Director of ASS. SOCIO CULTURALE EA ARTE CLUB, Segnalati Venice, December 2020
"Landscapes of the soul those painted by Jarl Goli. Landscapes where the sense of peace dominates. Through a great representative capacity, the Master takes us into his world. A world where nature dominates, mother of all of us. These are emotional, courageous landscapes, in which light always dominates the darkness of darkness."
Dott. Salvatore Russo. Art Critic and Director of ASS. SOCIO CULTURALE EA ARTE CLUB, May 2020
"Even though he draws inspiration from nature and from what surrounds him, his work is often figurative with abstract inputs and contains elements of magic realism.
His Works are representations that traditionally make the audience meditate on the meaning of the original work, as they always transmit a much more profound message.
All his work reveals very personal and intimate messages which are presented in a narcissistic way. His challenging artistic expression has put him to the attention of International scholars and galleries.
Jarl presents a collection of new works that show a message of solidarity, describe balance and harmony states, and the beauty of union. Philosophy lives through composition, color, and symbols. Creatures are drawn as enveloped of light and once dark and then lush landscapes live and often work together to receive benefits of this union. This lesson also deals with religion, connection with the community around him is important for survival."
Maria Grazia Todaro Gallery Owner and Art Critic, November 2019
"Entranced by the perceptual and emotional properties of color, Norwegian artist Jarl Goli is a veritable storyteller who paints soul-stirring narratives that emanate from the inner pulses of revelations about his own life experiences. The self-taught artist's distinctive painting style involves the manipulation of color in its literal sense. Goli works intimately with the paint, using his hands to absorb its sensory features that inspire him to pour his innermost emotions into the canvas.
Using mixed media, and a suite of painting techniques, Goli exhibits work wherein his figurative, anthropomorphic reforestations are encapsulated in vibrantly expressive, chromatically rich, and densely textured abstractions.
An expansive fusion of multi-layered oil and acrylic paints, Goli's massive, 2-meter piece "Imamen Finds Peace" evokes the light at the end of the tunnel through highly animated, feverish brushstrokes, rich textures, and vivid, bold colors. The story of Imamaen overcoming struggles and finding inner peace is chromatically depicted by contrasting intense reds and blues with bright yellows, suggestive of the auto of the Higher Self brought about the union with the Holy Spirit.
Golis' generosity of spirit extends beyond his emotive artworks, sharing his gift with people of all ages who want to learn how to express their inner emotions artistically."
